The Institutional Sales Associate will work closely with sales management and individual sales representatives on prospecting activities and providing support for business planning. As a member of the Institutional Business Development department, this position will also be responsible for working on department initiatives at the direction of the National Sales Manager to further the efficiency and effectiveness of the team. This is a unique opportunity to join our Institutional Business Development team as an Associate which not only allows you to gain invaluable experience in institutional sales but also empowers you to contribute significantly to the department’s success.
Major Duties:
- Assist with the development and implementation of the institutional team’s business plan.
- Follow up on Institutional marketing emails, webcasts, conferences, etc.
- Conduct prospecting calls to institutional prospects across NA and across institutional segments.
- Assist in the scheduling of meetings and promote an efficient and robust travel calendar.
- Develop and maintain distribution lists of potential clients.
- Assist the sales team on territory support, maintain up-to-date research on target markets/sectors utilizing industry databases to research and define selling opportunities around specific market segments.
- Work with the RFP Team and external Institutional Sales to respond to client inquiries, RFPs, RFIs, DDQs, and other client requests.
- Develop and implement a territory prospecting plan across North America.
- Coordinate marketing plan with National Sales Manager of IBD and implement with key stakeholders.
- Partner with assigned sales reps to execute on business plan.
- Research data with Market Intelligence team and AABI, and implement strategy with external IBD business development reps.
- Prepare and coordinate sales presentations and client due diligence visits such as logistics, agendas, briefing memos, etc.
- Conduct research projects to develop institutional relevant and pertinent content.
- Attend industry conferences and seminars when appropriate.
Position Specifications:
- Bachelor degree required; Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics or related field preferred. CFA preferred
- Minimum of 3 years in financial services sales or sales support; Experience with Institutional clients preferred
Knowledge of financial markets required - In-depth knowledge of competitor’s investment products required
- Knowledge of target market’s decision process required
- PC knowledge and basic software familiarity required; Experience with Dakota, MMD, Fin|Searches, Salesforce, Brightscope, Zoom Info preferred
- Must possess or immediately obtain FINRA Series 7 and Series 66 licenses
