Federated Hermes is looking for an Associate Trader to join an experienced team of Traders working in our Pittsburgh headquarters.  Assets traded on the Investment Grade and High Yield/Leveraged trading desks represent a substantial portion of the nearly 100bn of fixed income portfolios. This role is responsible for assisting with trading activities, supporting the new issue process, providing Portfolio Managers with information and liaising with operations and other fixed income colleagues.  If you are intellectually curious; enjoy the markets; and possess strong math, accounting, technical and communications skills, this may be the role for you!

 

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field preferred or relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • Interest in fixed income trading products such as investment grade corporate bonds, high yield bonds, leveraged loans, and derivatives products preferred
  • Risk/reward mindset and ability to assess relative value opportunities
  • Proficiency in Python required
  • Strong quantitative, math and accounting skills required
  • Strong relationship building and negotiation skills
  • A pro-technology mindset and the ability to leverage technology to improve effectiveness, efficiency, and workflow. Programming skills preferred, particularly Python literacy

 

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Assist in trading activities for Investment Grade, High Yield, and Leveraged Loans
  • Support new issue process as directed by Portfolio Managers, Investment Grade Corporate Bond Trading Desk Head, High Yield Bond Trading Desk and/or Head of Trading
  • Provide Portfolio Managers with information about market sentiment, trading environment, trading volume and price volatility
  • Lead ad-hoc projects to enhance trade execution and market performance
  • Liaise with operations and other fixed income business colleagues to maintain and enhance workflow efficiency, monitor risk and improve communication
  • Enhance our integration efforts to improve workflow efficiency through use of technology and systems.
