Federated Hermes Summer Internship Program provides students the opportunity to gain “hands on” experience and develop professional skills as well as the ability to network with talented professionals and gain insight into career possibilities within the asset management industry. The program includes a variety of events to enhance your internship experience, provide information about the firm and foster collaboration.
Purpose of the Internship:
The Investment Management, Sustainability Intern, will conduct fundamental sustainable research. This involves supporting the Sustainable Fixed Income (SFI) team across a variety of research, analysis and reporting to aid in investment decisions, monitoring and compliance duties, routine team activities, general marketing tasks and providing support to the team as a whole. The intern will collaborate closely with members of the global Sustainable Fixed Income team, credit analysts, and portfolio managers.
Major Duties:
- Conduct fundamental sustainability research in the area of Global corporate credit including sustainability related thematic, sector and corporate analysis.
- Assist the SFI team with research and assigning of sustainability scores such as Sustainable Investment scores and Climate Change Impact scores.
- Support environmental, social, and governance (ESG) engagement activities through research, agenda development, and meeting documentation.
- Present research and analysis in a clear and concise way to aid in decision making.
- Develop knowledge of the Federated Hermes business, to enable attendance and participation in internal meetings.
- Support broader team with regards to the maintenance of sustainability databases and creation of case studies or reporting featuring sustainable metrics.
- Offer additional support to the Credit teams as needed.
Hours/location:
- 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Federated Hermes Tower – Pittsburgh, PA 15222
- Hybrid work arrangement (in office / remote)

Position Specifications:
- Pursuing a degree with a concentration in sustainability, environmental science, economics, or related major preferred.
- Exposure and/or demonstrated interest in sustainability related topics such as climate change, social impact, human capital management, etc.
- Interest in financial markets, responsible ownership, and sustainable investing. Candidates are not expected to have an in-depth understanding of the investment management industry; however they should be able to articulate and provide some evidence regarding why they have a genuine desire to understand the sector.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Products including Word and Excel required; PowerPoint preferred.
