About the CFP Board

Leading the Way in Financial Planning Excellence
  • Sets and maintains professional standards for U.S. financial planners
  • Administers the respected CFP® certification
  • Recognized as the leading credential in financial planning
  • Operates the Center for Financial Planning to support industry growth
  • Supports professionals through research, scholarships, and career programs

PURPOSE:

Expand access to financial planning careers by supporting individuals from historically underrepresented communities. By reducing the financial barriers to entry, the scholarship ensures that more aspiring professionals can pursue the rigorous educational requirements needed to obtain CFP® certification—an essential credential in the industry.

This initiative aims to build a more inclusive pipeline of financial planners by offering up to $7,000 per recipient for enrollment in a CFP Board Registered Program at the undergraduate or certificate level. The financial assistance not only helps recipients complete their studies but also equips them with the knowledge and credentials needed to thrive and lead in the financial services field.

At its core, the scholarship is a strategic investment in the future of the profession. It reflects FARE’s and the CFP Board’s shared commitment to diversity, innovation, and community representation. By empowering more diverse candidates to enter and succeed in the industry, the scholarship contributes to building a financial services profession that better serves all individuals and communities.
