Federated Hermes is seeking an Associate Trader to join our seasoned team on one of the world’s largest Money Market desks, which manages approximately $634 billion of the firm’s $845.7 billion in total assets. This role supports the Tax-Free (Municipal) Money Market Trading Desk by enhancing asset returns through data analysis, market insights, and fast-paced decision-making. Ideal candidates are intellectually curious, passionate about financial markets, and possess strong skills in math, accounting, technology, and communication.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Mathematics, Accounting, Finance, or a Business-related field with coursework in financial markets, or relevant experience in lieu of degree required.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a trading operations role or progressive experience within a custodian operations environment is preferred.
  • Strong mathematical or accounting skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with advanced technology is required.
  • Skilled at managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of pivot tables, is required.
  • Experience in data analysis is preferred.
  • Familiarity with financial markets is advantageous.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support trading activities for global liquidity assets.
  • Perform daily cash reconciliations across multiple internal systems and external custodial platforms.
  • Communicate market developments to traders in a timely, clear, and concise manner.
  • Reconcile trades to ensure accurate and timely settlement.
  • Leverage technology to address complex, time-sensitive issues; analyze large datasets to identify trends and correlations; and generate key statistics for internal reporting.
  • Share relevant market insights with portfolio managers and research analysts.
  • Engage with the dealer community to provide account details, confirm securities transactions, and resolve settlement issues.
  • Execute special projects assigned.
